NEW ALBANY, Ind. – IU Southeast shot 51 percent from the field in the game and had four Grenadiers in double-figures as the Grenadiers defeated Brescia 92-73.
Jocobi Hendricks had 23 points and nine rebounds to lead IU Southeast. Anthony Wales Jr. had 20 points and five rebounds. Seth Cox recorded his first double-double in his third game of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds and Antonio Rogers had 12 points, nine rebounds and six assists.
The Grenadiers (11-3, 4-0 RSC) started slowly and trailed 21-17 with 8:30 to play in the first half. IU Southeast closed the half on a 27-11 run to take a 44-32 lead to halftime. Anthony Wales Jr. had 10 points and Jocobi Hendricks added nine points in the first half.
Brescia (6-10, 1-3 RSC) fell behind by as many as 17 points early in the second but cut the deficit to 58-50 with just under 12 minutes to play. The Grenadiers answered with the knockout blow, a 13-2 run to put the game away.
Jocobi Hendricks had 14 of his 23 points in the second half to help spark the offense. Seth Cox was dominant in the paint as he scored 12 points in the final 20 minutes and Anthony Wales Jr. had 10 points in the second half as the trio combined for 36 of the 48 IU Southeast points in the second half.
The Grenadiers won the game in the paint, outscoring the Bearcats 60-34 in the contest. That proved to be the difference on a night when the Grenadier perimeter offense was not successful. IU Southeast shot just 6-of-24 from three-point range in the game.
