Grenadiers Sweep Kentucky State Thursday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team got back on track with a 25-19, 25-22, 25-17 win over Kentucky State on Thursday.

Alyssa Cosgrove had 14 kills, Parker Andres added eight and Lindsey Howell and Alexis Bassett each added seven.

In the first set, IU Southeast led 15-12 when a kill from Cosgrove and two attack errors by the Thorobreds extended the lead to a comfortable distance. IU Southeast would take a 20-14 lead before winning the set 25-19.

In the second set the Grenadiers battled back and forth with Kentucky State. The largest lead in the frame was four points by IU Southeast and there were seven ties. IU Southeast (10-3) outscored KSU 4-1 in the final five points to take the set. Parker Andres and Hannah Sipe each had kills in the final three points for the Grenadiers.

In the third set, IU Southeast used a 9-4 run to take a 19-14 lead. The Grenadiers were also aided by six service errors in the final set. A kill by Parker Andres capped the win for IU Southeast.

Hannah Sipe had 34 assists in the match for IU Southeast. Kenna Burman had 27 digs and Lindsey Howell added 11.

The Grenadiers open conference play Tuesday at Cincinnati Christian at 7 p.m.
