Red Wolves Get Past IU Southeast 81-73

RICHMOND, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell 81-73 to IU East on Tuesday.

David Burton had 19 points and nine rebounds to lead IU Southeast. Antonio Rogers had 15 points, Jared Osborne had 14 points and Anthony Wales Jr. added 12.

The Grenadiers (14-7, 7-3 RSC) fell behind 32-23 in the first half before cutting the deficit to 33-29 at halftime after two made free throws by Anthony Wales Jr.

IU Southeast opened the second half strong and took a 51-45 lead on a Burton three-pointer, but neither team could pull away through the first ten minutes of the half.

With the game tied at 56, the Red Wolves pulled away with a 16-2 run that proved to be the difference in the contest.

IU Southeast staged a comeback attempt and cut the lead to 76-69 with 2:30 to play but that was as close as the Grenadiers would get.

Bishop Smith scored 16 of his game-high 30 points in the second half and Garrett Silcott (11) and Nate Soltis (10) were the difference makers for the Red Wolves in the second half. IU East shot 52 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes.

The IU Southeast perimeter offense could not get going on this night. The Grenadiers did not hit a three-point attempt in the first half were just 5-of-16 in the second half (31 percent).

The Grenadiers host Ohio Christian Saturday at 3 p.m.
