Saint Francis Defeats IU Southeast Friday

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team dropped an 87-49 decision to Saint Francis on Friday.

Lauren Lambdin had 18 points to lead the Grenadiers and Emmy Ralph added 10 points and four assists.

The Grenadiers (3-2) fell behind 20-8 in the first quarter but a basket by Hannah Corus and two free throws from Lauren Lambdin cut the deficit to 20-12 at the end of the period.

The Cougars' offense came out on fire in the second quarter as they shot 7-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range. The Grenadiers tried to keep up offensively and were only outscored 19-15 in the period as the Cougars led 39-27 at halftime.

Saint Francis put the game away in the third quarter as they outscored the Grenadiers 32-11. The Cougars were 5-of-9 from three-point range in the third quarter and held the Grenadiers to just one made three-point field goal in the period. Saint Francis led 71-38 heading to the fourth quarter.

IU Southeast shot 29 percent from the field in the contest and just 25 percent from three-point range which was the difference. The Cougars shot 55 percent from the field and 58 percent from behind-the-arc in the contest. Saint Francis also dominated the glass 44-25.

IU Southeast travels to the University of the Cumberlands on Nov. 23 for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
