NEW ALBANY, Ind. – David Burton had 25 points and 11 rebounds, Jared Osborne had 20 points, Jocobi Hendricks had 13 points and five assists and Seth Cox had 10 points and 10 rebounds as IU Southeast defeated Alice Lloyd 99-81 on Tuesday.
The Grenadiers (16-7, 9-3 RSC) led 37-27 late in the first half before the Eagles cut the lead to 43-38 at halftime. Both teams shot well in the first half and the Eagles hit seven three-point field goals in the opening 20 minutes to stay within striking distance.
David Burton and Jocobi Hendricks took over in the second half. They combined to score 35 of the Grenadiers' 56 points in the second half. David Burton scored 22 points and had seven rebounds, while shooting 7-of-10 from the field. Jocobi Hendricks scored 13 points and was 3-of-4 from behind-the-arc.
David Burton hit a jumper and Hendricks followed with a three-pointer to extend the lead to 67-57 with 10 minutes to play and the run was on to put the game out of reach.
IU Southeast put the game away with a 21-7 run to take a 83-62 lead with six minutes to play.
The Grenadiers shot 62 percent from the field in the second half and were 8-of-12 from three-point range and the Eagles could not match the offensive firepower.
The Grenadier bench doubled up Alice Lloyd 24-12 and the Grenadiers controlled the paint 42-26.
With the win, IU Southeast head coach Wiley Brown ties Jim Morris with 268 wins as the winningest men's basketball coach in IU Southeast history.
IU Southeast travels to Asbury on Saturday at 3 p.m.
