Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. – No. 16 Lindsey Wilson defeated IU Southeast 83-67 on Wednesday.
A sluggish third quarter was the difference in the contest as the Grenadiers hung with the Blue Raiders for much of the first half.
Emmy Ralph had a game-high 22 points and Lauren Lambdin added 15 points and seven rebounds in the loss.
A balanced attack from Lindsey Wilson resulted in four players scoring in double-figures, led by Bree Glover's 18 points.
The Grenadiers (1-1) opened the game by shooting 50 percent from the field in the first quarter. Emmy Ralph (7) and Alex Maher (4) scored 11 of the Grenadiers' 17 points in the opening period. IU Southeast trailed 19-17 after the first quarter.
Emmy Ralph took over in the second quarter for the Grenadiers. She tied the game on a jumper and gave the Grenadiers a lead on the next possession when she connected on a three-pointer. Another three extended the lead to 25-21 as she outscored the Blue Raiders 8-2 to open the period.
With the score tied at 27, Lauren Lambdin scored, Ralph hit a three-pointer and Karly Sweeney hit two free-throws to give the Grenadiers a 34-27 lead with five minutes left in the half.
But the Blue Raiders answered with a 12-2 run to take a 39-36 lead at halftime.
IU Southeast was outscored 23-13 in the third quarter and Lindsey Wilson led by as many as 13 points. The Grenadiers were 0-of-7 from three-point range and shot 31 percent from the field.
The Blue Raiders (1-0) opened the fourth quarter on a 13-2 run to put the game away. Bree Glover had all 18 of her points in the second half to provide an offensive spark for Lindsey Wilson.
The Blue Raiders capitalized at the free-throw line, hitting 17-of-23 attempts. They also outrebounded IU Southeast 50-36.
IU Southeast travels to IU East for a tournament on Friday and Saturday. They will open the weekend slate by taking on Michigan-Dearborn at 4 p.m. on Friday.
