RALPH'S 29 LEADS IU SOUTHEAST TO 74-55 WIN OVER CARLOW

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Emmy Ralph scored 29 points to lead the IU Southeast women's basketball team to a 74-55 victory over Carlow.

Emmy Ralph was one of three Grenadiers in double figures in the contest. Brynna Blackburn scored 12 points off the bench and Lauren Lambdin added 10 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. Hannah Corus led the team with 12 rebounds, and Alex Maher grabbed 11 boards. Leah Miller scored nine points and dished out six assists.

IU Southeast (8-12, 4-7 RSC) used a 9-0 run to take a 12-4 lead halfway through the first quarter. A 6-0 run gave IU Southeast its biggest first quarter lead at 21-9, but Carlow's Megan Lydon hit a three to close the gap to 21-12 after one.

The second quarter was much like the first. IU Southeast's Emmy Ralph continued her hot shooting, hitting a trio of second quarter three pointers. The Grenadiers used a 6-0 run to take a 44-30 lead going into the half.

IU Southeast hit 17 of their 30 first half shots, including going 5-8 from behind the arc. Emmy Ralph scored 24 first half points, going 10-14 from the field and 4-5 from deep. Hannah Corus was a force down low, grabbing nine first quarter rebounds.

The momentum shifted in Carlow's favor after halftime, as they used a 13-3 run to narrow the deficit to just four. Carlow scored six of those points on one possession following a technical on IU Southeast. The Grenadiers used a 5-0 run to extend the lead back to nine at 52-43. At the end of the third quarter, IU Southeast led 55-47.

Back-to-back three pointers by Brynna Blackburn and Leah Miller gave the Grenadiers a 61-47 lead. After an Emmy Ralph three pointer, Carlow cut the lead back to nine with back-to-back threes of their own. The Grenadiers held Carlow scoreless for the final five minutes of the game and used a 10-0 run to win 74-55.

The Grenadiers shot 43.5 percent from the field in the contest, connecting on 12 of their 25 three-point attempts. Emmy Ralph finished 12-20 from the field and 5-9 from the three-point line, nearly matching her season high of 31 points.

IU Southeast travels to Alice Lloyd on Tuesday.
