Box Score WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – Senior Glenn Hill scored his 1000th career point for IU Southeast, but the Grenadiers fell to the University of the Cumberlands 90-81 on Saturday.
IU Southeast scored the first four points of the game, but Cumberlands used an 8-0 run to take an 8-4 lead. A three-pointer gave the Patriots a 13-6 lead, but the Grenadiers answered with a 7-0 run to tie the game at 13-13. A Caleb Brown three gave IU Southeast an 18-15 advantage later in the half.
IU Southeast used a Lane Lauderbaugh layup to extend their lead to four at 27-23. After a jumper gave the Grenadiers a 29-26 lead, the Patriots used an 8-0 run to flip the game back in their favor at 34-29. Back-to-back threes gave the Patriots a 40-31 lead later in the first half. Cumberlands led 50-41 at the half.
The Patriots led 54-45 after a layup at the start of the second half, but IU Southeast used a 7-0 run to narrow the lead to 54-52. Leading 56-54, the Patriots used a 9-0 run to extend their lead to 11 at 65-54. The Grenadiers were able to cut the lead to four at 67-63, but Cumberlands went on a run yet again, extending their lead to 75-63.
Down 79-68, IU Southeast scored six straight to narrow the deficit to 79-74. The Grenadiers were able to cut the lead to five again with three minutes left, but the Patriots used a 7-2 run to take a 10-point lead with 2:30 remaining. The University of the Cumberlands went on to win 90-81.
Glenn Hill scored 25 points in the contest to lead the Grenadiers, bringing his IU Southeast career total to 1,002. Hill led the Grenadiers in rebounds as well, grabbing 11 boards to secure a double-double. Anthony Wales Jr scored 16 for the Grenadiers, and Jocobi Hendricks added 13 points and seven rebounds. Jaivaughn Jackson scored 11 points off the bench.
IU Southeast (5-4) returns home to resume conference action against St. Mary-of-the-Woods.
