Box Score NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Emmy Ralph had a game-high 29 points and Lauren Lambdin had 14 points and eight rebounds to become the 29th Grenadier women's basketball player to score 1,000 career points at IU Southeast, but IU East defeated IU Southeast 93-80. Lead Miler added 12 points in the loss.
The Grenadiers cut the first quarter deficit to 19-15 after a Ralph layup but the Red Wolves closed the period on an 8-1 run to take a 27-16 lead. Emmy Ralph and Lauren Lambdin kept the Grenadiers in the game in the first quarter, scoring 13 of the 16 IU Southeast points.
The IU East offense got going in the second quarter as they connected on 5-of-7 three-point attempts and shot 65 percent from the field in the quarter.
An Alex Maher layup cut the lead to 13 points but the Red Wolves answered back and took a 58-38 lead at halftime.
A three-pointer by Kennedy Griffin opened the third quarter and gave the Red Wolves their largest lead of the contest at 23 points, but the Grenadiers began to slowly chip away at the lead.
In the fourth quarter, IU Southeast opened the period on a 12-4 run and cut the lead to 79-70 after a Ralph layup. The Red Wolves answered with a jumper to extend the lead back to double-digits. After Ralph scored again, Kami McEldowney hit a three-pointer to give the Red Wolves a 84-72 lead with five minutes play and seal the game.
Emmy Ralph had 15 of her 29 points in the fourth quarter on 6-of-7 shooting to help the Grenadiers battle back in the contest.
The different in the contest was behind-the-arc as IU East shot 48 percent (12-of-25) from three-point range to the Grenadiers' 25 percent (6-of-24).
IU Southeast hosts St. Mary-of-the-Woods Saturday at 3 p.m. on Senior Day.
