That was more than enough run support for the IU Southeast pitching staff, highlighted by starter Tyler Yotkewich's four innings of shutout baseball. He allowed three hits and a walk for his first win of the season.
In the third, Cumberland threatened with runners at second and third with two out but Yotkewich got a fly out to end the inning.
A pair of RBI doubles, one in the sixth and one in the seventh, drove in the only runs of the contest for the Phoenix.
Zach Gutermuth worked a perfect fifth inning, striking out two batters in his IU Southeast debut. Bryce Trail and Brock Hammond worked the final two innings of the game and allowed just one combined hit and one walk to end the contest.
The Grenadiers travel to Blue Mountain College on Friday and Saturday.
