Box Score OAKLAND CITY, In. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell 78-56 to Oakland City in their regular season finale.
Every active Grenadier scored in the contest. Brynna Blackburn scored a team-high 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Lauren Lambdin and Emmy Ralph both scored 10 points in the game. Alex Maher grabbed a team-high ten rebounds.
Oakland City opened the game on an 8-2 run. Back-to-back threes by Brynna Blackburn cut the Mighty Oak lead to 11-8, but an 11-2 run extended the Oakland City advantage to 22-10. The Grenadiers hit four threes in the first quarter, but Oakland City entered the second with a 25-16 lead.
A 6-0 run to begin the second quarter gave Oakland City a 15-point advantage. Brynna Blackburn hit her third first half three to cut the lead to 12, but the Mighty Oaks answered, extending their lead to 16. The Grenadiers only scored seven points in the second quarter and went into halftime facing a 41-23 deficit.
The Grenadiers scored the first three points of the third quarter, but Oakland City once again put their foot on the gas and used an 11-0 run to extend their lead to 52-26. IU Southeast hung around though, using a 10-0 run to cut the lead to 52-36. Oakland City held a 58-38 advantage after three quarters.
IU Southeast was able to cut the Oakland City lead to 15 in the fourth quarter but could not pull any closer. Oakland City had a response to every Grenadier run, outscoring the Grenadiers in all four quarters. The Mighty Oaks would go on to win 78-56.
Brynna Blackburn hit a trio of three-pointers in the contest, bringing her regular season total to 68. The Grenadiers hit a total of eight three-pointers in the contest, two more than Oakland City. The biggest advantage for the Mighty Oaks came on the glass as they outrebounded IU Southeast 59-42.
The Grenadiers finish their injury-riddled regular season 11-17 overall and 7-11 in conference play. RSC Tournament information will be annonced by the conference later this weekend.
