NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team fell 25-21, 25-21, 25-17 to Oakland City on Tuesday.
Emilee Organ had 16 kills to lead IU Southeast.
Ella Brooks added seven and
Jessi Kramer had six.
Cate Murphy had 34 assists and 11 digs.
Jessi Kramer and
Allison Daves each had three total blocks to lead the Grenadiers.
IU Southeast trailed 13-8 in the first set but closed the gap with a 4-0 run. With the lead at 14-12, the Mighty Oaks pulled away with a 4-0 run of their own, forcing a Grenadier timeout.
A setting error and a kill extended the Oakland City lead to 21-14 and after forcing five set points, the Grenadiers finally fell 25-21.
Jessi Kramer had two kills to prolong the set.
With Oakland City leading the second set 18-17, the Mighty Oaks scored consecutive points to take a 20-17 advantage.
Ella Brooks countered with a kill by the Mighty Oaks forced a timeout after consecutive Grenadier errors.
A service error extended the lead to 23-20 and back-to-back kills by Chloee Thomas won the set.
IU Southeast led the third set 10-6 after a block by
Allison Daves and
Jessi Kramer and another attack error.
But Oakland City came back to tie the set at 14. They scored 11 of the next 14 points to win the match, including a 7-0 run to put the set out of reach.
IU Southeast travels to Point Park on Friday.
