NEW ALBANY, Ind – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell to Lindsey Wilson 107-70 in their season opener on Tuesday.
The first basket of IU Southeast's season was a layup by
Leah Miller. The Grenadiers took their first lead at 9-8 on two free throws by
Karly Sweeney. A three by
Jesse Ledgerwood gave the Grenadiers a 14-13 lead.
Karly Sweeney hit a three on the next possession to give the Grenadiers the lead once more at 17-15. The teams were tied 21-21 at the end of the first quarter.
Lindsey Wilson began the second quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 28-21 lead. After a
Karly Sweeney jumper made it 28-23, Lindsey Wilson scored nine straight to take a commanding 37-23 lead. Lindsey Wilson led 53-33 at halftime.
Lindsey Wilson led by as many as 27 in the third quarter and entered the fourth quarter with an 81-56 lead. The Blue Raiders would go on to win 107-70.
Jesse Ledgerwood led the Grenadiers with 16 points off the bench.
Karly Sweeney had 14 points and
Leah Miller added 11.
IU Southeast (0-1) returns to action on November 10
th against Huntington University.
