COLUMBIA, Ky. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell 87-74 to Lindsey Wilson on Thursday.
IU Southeast fell behind 8-0 early in the first quarter. Trailing 12-4, the Grenadiers used a 5-0 run to cut the lead to three at 12-9.
Lindsey Wilson was able to extend the lead to 16-9, but IU Southeast used a 10-1 run to take a 19-17 lead. Lindsey Wilson used a three-point play to take a 20-19 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
After a Lindsey Wilson layup, IU Southeast used a three by
Taylor Treat and a jumper by
Makenna Wilson to take a 24-22 lead. The Grenadiers took a 28-23 lead on a layup by
Karly Sweeney.
A layup by
Linzie Wernert gave IU Southeast a 32-30 advantage, but Lindsey Wilson hit a three to take a 33-32 lead.
Lexi Starr answered with a three to swing the lead back in IU Southeast's favor at 35-33. IU Southeast took a 42-39 lead into halftime.
Lindsey Wilson opened the second half on a 9-2 run to take a 48-44 lead. Leading 52-49, the Blue Raiders used a quick 4-0 run to take a 56-49 edge. IU Southeast hit two free throws to cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to six at 61-55 at the end of the third quarter.
Lindsey Wilson started the fourth quarter with a 6-0 run to take a 67-55 lead. The Blue Raiders extended their advantage to 17 at 74-57. IU Southeast used a 9-2 run later in the quarter to cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to single digits at 79-70, but the Blue Raiders were able to pull away late. Lindsey Wilson would go on to win 87-74.
Karly Sweeney led IU Southeast with 22 points and six rebounds.
Linzie Wernert added 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.
Makenna Wilson scored nine points, and
Jesse Ledgerwood had eight.
IU Southeast (3-6, 2-2 RSC) returns to action on Saturday at Campbellsville – Harrodsburg.
