HARRODSBURG, Ky. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team defeated Campbellsville Harrodsburg 71-50 on Saturday.
IU Southeast started off strong, shooting 47.6 percent from the field in the first quarter. The Grenadiers held a 21-12 advantage after the first quarter.
The second quarter saw CU Harrodsburg go on an 8-0 scoring run. IU Southeast was still able to outscore the Pioneers in the second quarter 16-12. The Grenadiers held a 37-24 halftime lead.
The third quarter saw IU Southeast pull away. The Grenadiers used an 11-0 run to extend their lead. IU Southeast outscored CU Harrodsburg 20-11 in the third quarter. The Grenadiers led 57-35 at the end of the third.
IU Southeast led by as many as 30 in the fourth quarter. The Grenadiers would go on to defeat CU Harrodsburg 71-50.
Linzie Wernert led IU Southeast with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and five steals in the win.
Jesse Ledgerwood added 11 points, including a trio of three-pointers.
Katie Durbin,
Karly Sweeney, and
Grace Stapleton each scored eight points.
Taylor Treat and
Makenna Wilson scored seven points apiece, and
Abby Young and
Lexi Starr each added two points.
The Grenadiers never trailed in the win, leading for 39:35 of the 40 minutes. IU Southeast shot 42.6 percent from the field and 80 percent from the free throw line.
IU Southeast (4-6, 2-2 RSC) returns to action on January 4
th at home against Shawnee State.
