TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell 79-56 to St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Tuesday.
IU Southeast trailed by as many as 12 points in the first half but iU Southeast cut the lead to 22-16 when
Grace Stapleton scored on a layup in the second quarter.
Stapleton hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit to 27-19 with seven minutes left but IU Southeast was able to chip away and back-to-back layups by
Katie Durbin and
Leah Miller made it a 34-30 game with 1:48 left in the half.
The Pomeroys led 37-30 at halftime.
After St. Mary-of-the-Woods extended the lead to 44-33 early in the third quarter but
Karly Sweeney hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 44-36.
The Pomeroys closed the period on a 17-2 run and outscored IU Southeast 24-8 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Karly Sweeney led IU Southeast with 17 points and Leah. Miller added 10 in the loss.
IU Southeast hosts IU Kokomo Saturday at 1 p.m.
