OWENSBORO, Ky. – The IU Southeast volleyball team swept Brescia 25-18, 25-9, 25-11 on Tuesday night.
IU Southeast jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the first set on back-to-back kills by
Ella Brooks and
Emilee Organ. Brescia responded with a 7-2 run to tie the set at 10-10. With the score tied 13-13, IU Southeast used a 6-0 run to take a 19-13 advantage. The Grenadiers went on to win the first set 25-18.
IU Southeast took a 10-5 lead in the second set on a kill by
Cate Murphy and an attack error by Brescia. After a point by the Bearcats, the Grenadiers scored 10 straight points to extend their lead to 20-6. An ace by
Lexi Striegel gave IU Southeast a 25-9 second set victory.
The Grenadiers led early in the third set, using a 5-0 run to take a 12-5 advantage. After a point by Brescia, IU Southeast rattled off a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 18-6. The Grenadiers used a kill by
Emilee Organ to win the third set 25-11 and the match 3-0.
Emilee Organ led IU Southeast with 13 kills.
Haley Jaster had seven kills and
Ella Brooks added six.
Cate Murphy led the Grenadiers with 30 assists. IU Southeast had four aces in the win, led by
Isabelle George with two.
IU Southeast moves to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in RSC play. The Grenadiers return home to take on Midway on Friday.
