NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team fell to Midway in five sets (25-23, 20-25, 20-25, 25-17, 8-15) on Friday.
With Midway up 6-3, IU Southeast used a 5-0 run to take an 8-6 lead. Midway took a 9-8 edge, but IU Southeast retook the lead at 10-9. Midway took a 13-11 lead, but IU Southeast scored three-straight points to regain a 14-13 advantage.
The teams traded points until Midway led 18-17. IU Southeast used a 6-1 run to take a 23-19 edge. Midway cut the lead to 24-23, but the Grenadiers took the first set 25-23.
Midway jumped out to a 13-4 lead in set two. The Eagles extended their lead to 11 at 18-7. Midway led 20-9, but IU Southeast used a 6-1 run to cut the lead to 20-14. Midway extended their advantage to 23-15, but IU Southeast used five straight points to cut their deficit to 23-20. Midway would ultimately take the second set 25-20.
IU Southeast led 9-4 early in the third set, but Midway came back to tie the set at 10-10. Midway took a 15-13 edge and extended their lead to three at 17-14. IU Southeast cut the Midway lead to one at 21-20, but a 4-0 Eagle run gave Midway the third set 25-20.
IU Southeast opened the fourth set with a 13-6 lead. Leading 15-10, a 5-0 Grenadier run gave IU Southeast a 20-10 lead. Midway cut the lead to 23-17, but IU Southeast would take the fourth set 25-17.
Midway jumped out to a 6-2 lead in the deciding set. The Eagles extended their lead to five at 9-4. IU Southeast made it 10-6, but back-to-back points gave Midway a 12-6 edge. Midway would go on to take the set 15-8 and the match 3-2.

Ella Brooks led IU Southeast with 19 kills and added 14 digs.
Carly Mason had a team-high 31 assists and four aces.
Jessi Kramer had 20 digs and 13 kills.
IU Southeast returns to action on Saturday against IU East for Senior Day.
