NEW ALBANY, Ind. – IU Southeast has hired Matt Graston as the head coach of the men's and women's golf programs, Athletic Director Tod Bannister announced today.
"We are excited to bring Matt Graston on board as the head coach of our golf programs," Tod Bannister said. "With his experience in the region with both the men's and women's high school scene, we were convinced he will hit the ground running in identifying talented young people who will want to continue their golf careers here at IU Southeast. His relationship with our partners at Covered Bridge and Champions Pointe golf courses is also a plus as the relationships that universities forge with the club partners is critical for sustained success."
Graston comes to IU Southeast with nearly 20 years of coaching experience. Most recently, Graston took over as head coach of the girls' golf team at Floyd Central High School in 2023, where they finished sixth in the State Finals.
"I'm excited for this opportunity with IUS and the golf program," Graston said. "Men's and women's golf teams are a great addition to an already outstanding athletic program that will also benefit IUS overall. I think there is a lot of talent in just our area alone so I believe the program will be very competitive right out of the gate with great community and family support. I am looking forward to a great partnership with Covered Bridge and Champions Pointe. Having these two great courses close to campus will provide an awesome and convenient opportunity for our players."
Beginning in 2016, Graston was also in charge of the boys' golf program at Silver Creek High School and both the girls' and boys' golf programs at Silver Creek Middle School. In 2022, the Silver Creek boys finished fourth in the State Finals.
From 2016-2021, Graston was the head coach of the girls' golf team at Silver Creek High School.
Graston was also the head coach of the men's golf team at Providence High School from 1994-2000. Graston has also served as the Assistant Golf Professional at Jeffersonville Elks Country Club and Wildwood Country Club.
Graston was a student at IU Southeast from 1992-95 and is a 1992 graduate of Clarksville High School.
