RICHMOND, Ind. - IU Southeast men's golf opened their 2026-27 season at the IU East Invitational Friday and Saturday. The tournament was held at Highland Lake Golf Course and was a par 72, two round tournament.   

Johnathan Clifton had IU Southeast's highest individual finish, coming in fourth place. Clifton finished –4 for the tournament, highlighted by shooting a 69 (-3) in round two. Blaine Hamilton and Zane Hammond both improved their scores by three strokes in round two. Blaine Hamilton finished 18th and Zane Hammond finished tied for 20th place.  

Evan Trester finished tied for 32nd and recorded a pair of birdies in round two, and Cameron Kirtley rounded out the Grenadiers' scores with a pair of birdies in round one.  

As a team, the Grenadiers were +6 and came in third place out of eleven teams. IU Southeast climbed three spots in the overall team leaderboard, one of which was conference foe Rio Grande, after improving their score by four strokes in round two.  

Head Coach Barry Gulley made his IU Southeast coaching debut at the tournament and finished ahead of Rio Grande, Brescia, and Saint Mary of the Woods, all River States Conference competition.  

Grenadier golf will be back in action on September 14th-15th at the Pretty Lake Golf Club in Plymouth, Ind., for the Bethel University Invitational.
