NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team defeated Miami-Middletown 91-54 for a Senior Day victory on Saturday. Three seniors,
Jocobi Hendricks,
J.J. Reed and
Matthew Jones, were honored before the game.
Miami-Middletown jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first half. IU Southeast answered with an 8-0 run to take an 8-7 lead.
Trailing 17-16, IU Southeast scored 12 straight points to take a 28-17 edge. After five straight points by Miami-Middletown made it 28-22, IU Southeast answered with a 7-0 run to take a 35-22 lead. The Grenadiers led 39-27 at the half.
IU Southeast opened the second half with five straight points to extend their lead to 17 at 44-27. The Grenadiers took a 20-point lead at 51-31 on a
J.J. Reed three.
Matthew Jones connected on a three to give IU Southeast a 56-35 advantage. Leading 62-43,
Jocobi Hendricks scored 14 straight points to extend the IU Southeast lead to 76-43. Hendricks hit seven straight three-point attempts down the stretch as the Grenadiers would go on to win 91-54.
Senior
Jocobi Hendricks scored a team-high 27 points, 25 of which came in the second half. Senior
J.J. Reed had 15 points, nine rebounds and a team-high five assists.
Lane Lauderbaugh recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Twelve different Grenadiers scored in the contest. IU Southeast shot 46.2 percent from the floor and 41.4 percent from three-point range.
Jocobi Hendricks had seven of IU Southeast's 12 made threes.
IU Southeast finishes the regular season 13-14 overall and 8-10 in RSC play. They will host Midway in the First Round of the RSC Men's Basketball Championship on Monday at 7:30 p.m.
