JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team swept a doubleheader against IUPUC on Sunday, winning game one 4-2 and game two 3-0.
 
IU Southeast jumped on the board in the bottom of the first in game one. McKenzie Walters was hit by a pitch and advanced to second on a groundout. Autumn Oehlstrom walked, and Erin Templeman singled to load the bases with one out.
 
After a strikeout made it two outs, Macie Zink singled to drive home Walters to give IU Southeast a 1-0 lead. Brynlea Bennett followed with a two-RBI single to make it 3-0 IU Southeast.
 
The game remained 3-0 until the bottom of the fourth when the first home run of McKenzie Walters's career gave IU Southeast a 4-0 advantage.
 
A two-run home run in the top of the sixth by IUPUC cut the Grenadier lead to two at 4-2, but neither team would score again as IU Southeast secured a 4-2 win.
 
Madison Wathen started and got the win for IU Southeast, throwing five scoreless innings while striking out 11. Hallie Foley threw the final two innings.
 
Erin Templeman and Brynlea Bennett each had two hits for IU Southeast. McKenzie Walters reached base three times, including hitting a home run. Macie Zink had a hit and an RBI in the win. Josie Lemmons had the lone stolen base for IU Southeast.
 
IU Southeast scored in the bottom of the first in game one as well. The Grenadiers loaded the bases with no outs, but a double play erased the two lead runners. With two outs, Macie Zink singled to score Autumn Oehlstrom to give IU Southeast a 1-0 lead.
 
Kaitlyn Leister connected on career home run number one in the bottom of the second to give IU Southeast a 2-0 lead.
 
Autumn Oehlstrom homered to lead off the bottom of the third to give IU Southeast a 3-0 advantage. The Grenadiers loaded the bases with no outs, but a strikeout and an infield fly double play got IUPUC out of the jam.
 
IU Southeast made a pitching change in the top of the sixth, but after two of the first three hitters reached, the Grenadiers put starter Maci Warner back in to get out of the jam.
 
Neither team would score for the rest of the game as IU Southeast secured a 3-0 win.
 
Maci Warner got the start and the win, throwing 6.2 scoreless innings. Kaitlyn Leister went 3-3 with a double and a home run. Chloee Shewmaker, Erin Templeman and Macie Zink each had two hits in the win. Autumn Oehlstrom also hit a home run for IU Southeast.
 
IU Southeast (8-9, 2-0 RSC) returns to action Monday for a home doubleheader against St. Mary-of-the-Woods beginning at 12 p.m.
