NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team swept Alice Lloyd in a doubleheader on Friday, winning game one 8-0 in five innings and game two 9-0 in five innings behind a perfect game by
Maci Warner.
Game one remained scoreless until the bottom of the third. After
Brynlea Bennett walked,
Autumn Oehlstrom homered to left field to give IU Southeast a 2-0 lead. After a
Macie Zink walk,
Kendall Brown put down a bunt single that was thrown away, allowing Zink to score to make it 3-0. A
Madison Wathen RBI infield single made it 4-0 IU Southeast.
In the bottom of the fourth, IU Southeast loaded the bases with no outs. An RBI fielder's choice by
Autumn Oehlstrom made it 5-0, and an RBI groundout by
Erin Templeman gave IU Southeast a 6-0 lead.
Kendall Brown led off the bottom of the fifth with a walk and advanced to second on a wild pitch. An error put runners on first and third with no outs. After pinch runner
Alaina Winzeler stole second, two wild pitches allowed Brown and Winzeler to score to give IU Southeast an 8-0 win in five innings.
Madison Wathen threw a five-inning complete game shutout, allowing just one hit while striking out 12.
Six different Grenadiers had a hit.
Autumn Oehlstrom led the Grenadiers with a home run and three RBIs.
Quinlynn Cunningham and
Alaina Winzeler each stole a base.
Game two saw IU Southeast strike first in game two.
Macie Zink led off the bottom of the second with a bunt hit and a stolen base.
Kendall Brown followed with an RBI triple to give IU Southeast a 1-0 lead.
Maci Warner followed with an RBI double to make it 2-0.
After an error gave IU Southeast runners on first and third, an infield single by
Josie Lemmons scored Warner to give the Grenadiers a 3-0 lead. A throwing error allowed two runs to score, giving IU Southeast a 5-0 edge.
Brynlea Bennett led off the bottom of the fourth by reaching on an error. After a single by
Autumn Oehlstrom,
Erin Templeman delivered a two-RBI double to make it 7-0 IU Southeast. After
Macie Zink walked and
Kendall Brown was hit by a pitch, a run scored on a double play to give the Grenadiers an 8-0 lead. An RBI single by
Cassi Roman made it 9-0 IU Southeast.
IU Southeast would go on to secure a 9-0 win in five innings.
Maci Warner retired all 15 batters in order, striking out four en route to a five-inning perfect game.
Four Grenadiers had two hits apiece.
Erin Templeman and
Maci Warner doubled, and
Kendall Brown tripled.
Erin Templeman,

Cassi Roman each stole a base.
IU Southeast (22-11, 16-2 RSC) hosts Shawnee State for a doubleheader on Saturday.
