HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The IU Southeast softball team fell to Stillman 7-3 in the first game of the NAIA Softball Opening Round on Monday.
IU Southeast jumped on the board in the bottom of the second. With
Kendall Brown on third,
Cassi Roman hit a sacrifice fly to give the Grenadiers a 1-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third,
Erin Templeman singled down the left field line to drive home
Autumn Oehlstrom and give IU Southeast a 2-0 lead.
Stillman scored a run in the top of the fourth and three runs in the top of the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Josie Lemmons singled and advanced all the way to third on a throwing error.
Autumn Oehlstrom delivered an RBI single to cut the Stillman lead to 4-3.
Stillman responded with three runs in the top of the sixth to take a 7-3 lead, which would go on to be the final score.
Madison Wathen threw a complete game in the loss.
Autumn Oehlstrom had two of the six IU Southeast hits. Oehlstrom,
Erin Templeman, and
Cassi Roman each had an RBI.
IU Southeast (34-17) returns to action on Tuesday in an elimination game against Reinhardt at approximately 5:00 PM EST.
