SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV. – The IU Southeast softball team fell to Point Park 4-2 in nine innings but bounced back to defeat Oakland City 4-2 to avoid elimination on the opening day of the RSC Softball Tournament.
IU Southeast scored first against Point Park. In the bottom of the second,
Erin Templeman tripled, and
Macie Zink followed with an RBI sacrifice fly to give the Grenadiers a 1-0 lead.
Autumn Oehlstrom doubled to lead off the bottom of the fourth for IU Southeast.

The game remained 2-0 until the top of the seventh. A double, a single, and a stolen base gave the Pioneers runners on second and third with no outs. Point Park used an RBI double to make it 2-1, but the tying run was thrown out at the plate. After a strikeout, a popup that was lost in the sun allowed a Point Park run to come home and tie the game at 2-2.
Point Park scored two runs in the top of the ninth to take a 4-2 lead. The Pioneers would retire IU Southeast in the bottom of the inning to secure a 4-2 victory.
Madison Wathen allowed four runs in 8.1 innings while striking out 11.
Maci Warner got the final two outs of the ninth.
Erin Templeman led IU Southeast with three hits.
Macie Zink drove in two runs.

Josie Lemmons led off the top of the first with a single and advanced to second on a wild pitch. Lemmons advanced to third on a groundout and came around to score on an RBI groundout by
Autumn Oehlstrom to make it 1-0 Grenadiers.
In the bottom of the third, IU Southeast had runners on first and third with no outs. An RBI fielder's choice by
McKenzie Walters gave IU Southeast a 2-0 lead.
Oakland City scored two runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 2-2.
In the bottom of the fifth,
Josie Lemmons and
McKenzie Walters singled to give IU Southeast two runners on with no outs.
Autumn Oehlstrom followed with an RBI single to give the Grenadiers a 3-2 lead. With the bases loaded,
Savannah Gaither drew an RBI walk to give IU Southeast a 4-2 lead.
Oakland City brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the seventh, but IU Southeast was able to secure a 4-2 win.
Maci Warner threw a complete game, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out seven.
Josie Lemmons led IU Southeast with three hits.
Autumn Oehlstrom drove in two runs and stole a base.
Quinlynn Cunningham also stole a base.
IU Southeast (34-15) returns to action at 12 PM on Friday against the loser of Point Park and Rio Grande.
