SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV. – The IU Southeast softball team fell to Point Park 4-3 in the RSC Softball Tournament on Friday.
IU Southeast scored in the top of the first. With
McKenzie Walters on first,
Autumn Oehlstrom hit a home run to give the Grenadiers a 2-0 lead.
In the top of the fourth, Point Park scored a run on a single and two runs on an error to take a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the fourth,
Kendall Brown bunted for a single and stole second.
Cassi Roman followed with an RBI double to tie the game at 3-3.
A solo home run in the top of the fifth gave Point Park a 4-3 lead.
IU Southeast put runners on second and third in the bottom of the fifth, but a strikeout got Point Park out of the jam.
In the bottom of the sixth,
Cassi Roman doubled and
Issy Wright walked, but Point Park escaped the jam to take a 4-3 lead into the seventh.
Point Park would go on to win 4-3, eliminating IU Southeast from the RSC Softball Tournament.
Maci Warner threw a complete game, giving up two earned runs on four hits.
Cassi Roman led IU Southeast with three hits, including two doubles.
Autumn Oehlstrom homered and drove in two.
IU Southeast (34-16) has earned a bid to the NAIA Opening Round via their RSC Regular Season Championship. The Grenadiers find out where they will play during the NAIA Selection Show on Tuesday, May 7 at 5:00 PM.
