NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team fell to Hanover College in four sets (25-21, 19-25, 16-25, 19-25) on Tuesday.
Trailing 7-5 in set one, IU Southeast used a 6-1 run to take an 11-8 lead. IU Southeast then used a 4-1 run to take a 15-9 lead.
Hanover cut the lead to three at 15-12, but IU Southeast extended the advantage back to six at 20-14. A 7-1 run by Hanover tied the set at 21-21, but four straight points by IU Southeast gave the Grenadiers a 25-21 first set win.
Hanover took their first lead of the second set at 6-5, but IU Southeast took the lead right back at 7-6. With IU Southeast leading 12-9, Hanover used a 9-1 run to take an 18-13 lead. IU Southeast cut the lead back to three at 18-15, but Hanover would go on to take the second set 25-19.
IU Southeast took a 7-4 lead early in set three. With the teams tied at 8-8, IU Southeast used a 4-0 run to take a 12-8 lead. Hanover then responded with an 8-0 run to swing the lead back in their favor at 16-12. A 6-1 run gave Hanover a 23-15 edge, and the Panthers would go on to take the third set 25-16.
IU Southeast scored seven of the first 10 points of the fourth set to take a 7-3 advantage. Trailing 10-6, Hanover used a 6-1 run to take an 11-10 lead. IU Southeast answered with three straight points to take a 13-11 lead, but a 7-1 run gave the Panthers the lead back at 18-14. Hanover would go on to take the fourth set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
Ella Brooks led IU Southeast with 11 kills and 19 digs.
Haley Jaster added 10 kills and 4.0 blocks.
Carly Mason led the Grenadiers with 21 assists and three aces.
Madison Ramsey had a team-high 5.0 blocks, and
Allison Daves added 4.0.
IU Southeast continues their homestand with a matchup with Campbellsville at 7:00 PM on Thursday.
