NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team defeated Shawnee State in four sets on Saturday to cap off a perfect 2-0 home weekend.
IU Southeast jumped out to an early lead in set one and never looked back, leading by as many as ten points en route to a 25-15 set win.
The second set was just the opposite as Shawnee State jumped out to a commanding 21-6 lead and would go on to take the second set 25-15.
Shawnee State led for the majority of the third set and held a 17-12 lead. IU Southeast roared back to tie the set at 23-23. After the Bears made it 24-23, three straight IU Southeast points gave the Grenadiers a 26-24 set three win.
Set four was back and forth until a quick run put IU Southeast up 13-10. Shawnee State was able to cut it to two at 16-14, but that was as close as they would get as IU Southeast would go on to take the fourth set 25-19 and the match 3-1.
IU Southeast was led by
Haley Jaster who had 21 kills and 3.0 blocks.
Ella Brooks had 13 kills, 4.0 blocks and 16 digs.
Madison Ramsey was a force at the net with 6.0 blocks.
Carly Mason recorded 44 assists, which tied a career high.
Ella Davidson led the Grenadiers with 25 digs, followed by
Nicole Stratford with 19. Both Stratford and
Natalie Pierce had two aces apiece.
"Wrapped up a great home weekend," IU Southeast head coach Taylor-Wilson Evanczyk said. "Our middles were on fire this weekend and it's exciting to see what they can do and have Haley back!"
IU Southeast moves to 15-4 overall and 8-3 in RSC play. The Grenadiers return to action next Saturday at home against IU Columbus.
