NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team fell to No. 15 IU Kokomo in three sets on Friday.
The first set saw IU Southeast take an early 6-3 lead before an 8-2 IU Kokomo run gave the Cougars an 11-8 edge. IU Kokomo gradually increased their lead throughout the set and would go on to take the first set 25-16.
IU Kokomo started the second set on an 11-2 run. IU Southeast never got within seven points after the hot IU Kokomo start as the Cougars would cruise to a 25-15 second set win.
The Cougars started off the third set hot with an 11-4 run. IU Southeast chipped away at the Cougar lead and got within three points on several occasions, but it was IU Kokomo who took the third set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
Haley Jaster led IU Southeast with 10 kills.
Ella Brooks had eight kills and seven digs.
Carly Mason led the Grenadiers with 25 assists, and
Ella Davidson had a team-high 12 digs.
"There was good volleyball played tonight," IU Southeast head coach Taylor Wilson-Evanczyk said. "Locked in and looking forward to tomorrow!"
IU Southeast falls to 17-7 overall and 10-5 in RSC play. The Grenadiers regular season finale is on Saturday when they host SMWC. This game will serve as Senior Day for IU Southeast.
