IU Southeast Falls to Oakland City on Senior Day

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team fell to Oakland City 86-72 on Senior Day.
 
IU Southeast led 6-2 three minutes into the game. Oakland City then used an 11-2 run to take a 13-8 lead.
 
Oakland City extended their lead to six at 21-15 following a made three. IU Southeast was able to cut the lead to four, but the Mighty Oaks answered and extended their lead to seven at 27-20.
 
Both teams went on a scoring drought for the next three minutes before an Oakland City three put the Mighty Oaks up 10 at 30-20. Oakland City led by as many as 16 in the first half and took a 40-26 lead into halftime.
 
Oakland City opened the second half with a bucket to make it 42-26, but IU Southeast responded with a 9-1 run to cut the Mighty Oak lead to 43-35. A layup gave Oakland City a 45-35 edge, but a Caleb Brown three made it 45-38.
 
The Mighty Oaks rattled off six straight points to extend their advantage to 51-38. IU Southeast clawed back to make it 53-47, but a made three by Oakland City gave them a 56-47 edge.
 
After an Ashton Myles-Devore jumper made it 56-49, Oakland City used an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 64-49.
 
Oakland City led 72-56 with 5:06 left. The Mighty Oaks maintained a healthy lead, holding a 78-63 advantage with 2:27 remaining.
 
A 6-0 flurry by IU Southeast cut the Oakland City lead to nine at 78-69, but the Mighty Oaks would go on to win 86-72.
 
"Give Oakland City all the credit," IU Southeast head coach Wiley Brown said. "They had more energy than us. They played more physical. We played on our heels the entire game. They deserved the win, and we got embarrassed. Back to the lab!"
 
IU Southeast was led by Richard Lang, who scored a career-high 17 points on 8-8 shooting. Lang also grabbed eight rebounds and blocked five shots. Lane Lauderbaugh added 17 points, four assists, and three rebounds. Camden Pfeister added nine points and eight rebounds.
 
IU Southeast (11-14, 6-8 RSC) returns to action on Tuesday for a road contest against Brescia.
