No. 14 IU Southeast Falls to No. 5 Reinhardt on Friday

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The 14th ranked IU Southeast baseball team fell to the 5th ranked Reinhardt Eagles 16-4 in seven innings on Friday.
 
Reinhardt scored three in the first to take a 3-0 lead. Another two runs in the second made it 5-0 Eagles.
 
An RBI single by Logan Murphy in the second made it 5-1. Reinhardt answered with four in the third to take a 9-1 lead.
 
Reinhardt scored two more runs in the fourth to take an 11-1 edge.
 
An RBI single by Preston Shelton in the fourth made it 11-2. An RBI groundout by Logan Murphy made it 11-3, and an RBI single by Grant Shepherd made it 11-4.
 
Three more runs in the fifth and two in the sixth gave Reinhardt a 16-4 lead, which would be the final score.
 
Hazel Martinez and Grant Shepherd each had two hits for IU Southeast. Logan Murphy drove in a team-high two runs. Martinez and Colin Long each doubled.
 
Eli Laurent started and took the loss, allowing eight runs in 2.1 innings. Gavin Gentry, Conner Christopher V, Aiden Darlage, Gavin Sebby, and Hunter Niksch threw in relief.
 
IU Southeast and Reinhardt finish their series on Saturday.
