NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team swept a doubleheader against Oakland City on Tuesday.
A sacrifice fly by
Sofia Guy in the bottom of the first of game one gave IU Southeast a 1-0 lead.
Sofia Guy threw a runner out at the plate in the third to keep the game 1-0 Grenadiers.
An RBI triple by
Hannah Nunemaker in the fourth put IU Southeast ahead 2-0. An RBI single by
Josie Lemmons made it 3-0.
Oakland City loaded the bases with one out in the seventh, but
Hannah Nunemaker got out of the jam to secure a 3-0 IU Southeast victory.
Brynlea Bennett had two hits to lead IU Southeast.
Savannah Gaither doubled, and
Hannah Nunemaker tripled.
Hannah Nunemaker threw a complete game shutout, striking out six in seven innings.

Oakland City loaded the bases in the sixth. The Mighty Oaks scored a run to make it 2-1, but
Sofia Guy threw a runner out at third base to end the inning.
An error allowed a run to score in the sixth to give IU Southeast a 3-1 lead. Oakland City had the tying run on base in the seventh, but
Emma Davis escaped the jam to secure a 3-1 win for IU Southeast.
Josie Lemmons,
Brynlea Bennett, and
Sofia Guy each had two hits.
Lillian Mackey,
Sofia Guy, and
McKenzie Walters all doubled.
Josie Lemmons,
Sofia Guy, and
Alaina Winzeler stole a base.
Emma Davis got the win, allowing just one unearned run in a seven-inning complete game effort.
"Pitchers threw fantastic, and defense was very effective," IU Southeast interim head coach
Erin Templeman said. "We executed at the plate. Overall it was a solid day and very happy with these two wins."
IU Southeast moves to 22-14 overall and 18-10 in RSC play. The Grenadiers travel to Midway for a doubleheader on Friday.
