NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The tenth ranked IU Southeast baseball team was swept by (RV) Oakland City on Senior Day.
Oakland City scored one in first and five in the third to take a 6-0 lead in game one.
An RBI double by
Hazel Martinez in the third made it 6-1.
A solo home run by
Hazel Martinez in the fifth made it 6-2. An RBI single by
Cole Reynolds cut the lead to 6-3, and a sacrifice fly by
Grant Shepherd made it 6-4. A wild pitch allowed another run to score to allow IU Southeast to cut the Oakland City lead to one at 6-5.
Oakland City scored a run in the sixth to make it 7-5. The Mighty Oaks then scored four runs in the eighth to extend their lead to 11-5.
An RBI single by
Hazel Martinez made it 11-6, but Oakland City responded with two more runs to take a 13-6 lead, which would be the final score.
Hazel Martinez led IU Southeast with four hits and three RBI.
Eli Laurent took the loss, allowing six runs in three innings.

A solo home run by
Coulter Hamilton in the second put the Grenadiers up 2-0. An RBI groundout by
Colin Long in the third made it 3-0 IU Southeast.
Solo home runs by
Trevor Goodwin and
Logan Murphy in the fourth put IU Southeast ahead 5-0.
Oakland City responded with five runs in the fifth to tie the game at 5-5. Another run in the sixth gave the Mighty Oaks a 6-5 lead.
An RBI single by
Hazel Martinez in the seventh tied the game at 7-7 and sent the contest to extra innings.
Oakland City exploded for six runs in the eighth to take a 12-6 lead, which would be the final score.
Four different Grenadiers had two hits.
Nolan Bowser,
Logan Beard, and
Preston Shelton all doubled.
Trevor Goodwin,
Coulter Hamilton, and
Logan Murphy homered.
Luca Sandrella got the start, allowing three earned runs in five innings.
Nick Pazos threw two innings in relief, allowing one run.
Gavin Gentry took the loss, allowing three runs in 0.2 innings.
Gavin Sebby also allowed three runs in relief.
No. 10 IU Southeast falls to 28-12 and 15-5 in RSC play. The Grenadiers take on Campbellsville on Tuesday in their home finale.
