NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The tenth ranked IU Southeast baseball team fell to Campbellsville 11-8 on Tuesday.
Campbellsville scored a run in the first to take a 1-0 lead.
An RBI single by
Logan Beard in the bottom of the first tied the game at 1-1. A two-RBI single by
Preston Shelton made it 3-1, and a bases clearing triple by
Logan Murphy gave IU Southeast a 6-1 lead.
Campbellsville scored four runs in the second to cut the lead to 6-5. A run in the third tied the game at 6-6.
An RBI single by
Cole Reynolds in the fifth put IU Southeast ahead 7-6.
Campbellsville used a three-run home run in the sixth to take a 9-7 lead. Two more runs in the eighth put Campbellsville in front 11-7.
IU Southeast loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth, but the Grenadiers only scored one run (a
Grant Shepherd RBI groundout) as Campbellsville escaped with an 11-8 win.
Four Grenadiers had two hits.
Hazel Martinez and
Preston Shelton each doubled.
Logan Murphy tripled and led IU Southeast with three RBI.
Grant Shepherd stole a base.
IU Southeast used seven pitchers in the game.
Cade Rusch started, and
Daly Skees followed in relief.
Aiden Darlage threw two scoreless innings.
Zak Rasener and
Conner Christopher V threw the sixth and seventh.
Luke Shelton and
Nick Pazos both threw scoreless innings.
No. 10 IU Southeast falls to 28-13 overall. The Grenadiers conclude their season at WVU Tech this weekend.
