BECKLEY, W. Va. – The tenth ranked IU Southeast baseball team was walked off by WVU Tech 7-6 in 10 innings on Friday.
WVU Tech started fast, taking a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
A two-run home run by
Logan Beard in the fourth cut the WVU Tech to one at 3-2.
Another run in the bottom of the fourth put WVU Tech ahead 4-2.
An RBI single by
Nolan Bowser in the fifth cut the lead back to one at 4-3, but WVU Tech responded with a run of their own to extend their lead to 5-3.
An RBI double by
Ethan Burdette in the seventh made it a 5-4 game.
After a lengthy weather delay, IU Southeast loaded the bases in the ninth. A passed ball allowed a run to score to tie the game at 5-5 and send it to extra innings.
An RBI single by
Coulter Hamilton gave IU Southeast a 6-5 lead in the tenth, but WVU Tech scored two runs in the bottom of the inning to secure a 7-6 win.
Nolan Bowser and
Preston Shelton each had two hits. Bowser and
Ethan Burdette doubled, and
Logan Beard homered. Bowser also stole a base.
Eli Laurent started, allowing five runs in six innings.
Aiden Darlage threw two scoreless innings.
Nick Pazos took the loss, allowing two runs in 1.1 innings.
Luke Shelton faced two batters in relief.
No. 10 IU Southeast looks to end their five-game losing streak as they conclude their regular season with a doubleheader against WVU Tech.
