NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast softball team swept WVU Tech in a doubleheader on Senior Day.
A two-RBI double by
Kaitlyn Leister in the bottom of the first of game one gave IU Southeast a 2-0 lead.
An RBI single by
Josie Lemmons in the bottom of the second put the Grenadiers ahead 3-0.
A sacrifice fly by
Kaitlyn Leister in the third put IU Southeast up 4-0. An RBI double by
McKenzie Walters made it 5-0.
An RBI single by
Lillian Mackey and an error allowed two runs to score to put IU Southeast ahead 7-0. A two-RBI single by
Alaina Winzeler gave the Grenadiers a 9-0 lead, which would be the final score.
Josie Lemmons led IU Southeast with three hits.
Kaitlyn Leister had two doubles and three RBI.
Lillian Mackey,
McKenzie Walters, and
Savannah Gaither all doubled. Gaither also tripled. Lemmons and
Sofia Guy both stole a base.
Hannah Nunemaker got the win, throwing a five-inning complete game shutout.

Alaina Winzeler made it 3-0 Grenadiers.
A two-RBI single by
Lillian Mackey in the fourth put IU Southeast ahead 5-0. A sacrifice fly by
Alaina Winzeler made it 6-0. A two-RBI double by
Savannah Gaither put the Grenadiers ahead 8-0.
WVU Tech scored six runs in the fifth to make it 8-6.
A run came around to score on an error in the fifth to put IU Southeast ahead 9-6. An RBI fielder's choice by
McKenzie Walters put the Grenadiers up 10-6, and an RBI single by
Alaina Winzeler made it 11-6.
A two-RBI single by
Lillian Mackey in the sixth made it 13-6, and an RBI double by
McKenzie Walters gave IU Southeast a 14-6 run-rule win in six innings.
Josie Lemmons,
Sofia Guy, and
Kaitlyn Leister had three hits apiece.
Lillian Mackey had a team-high four RBI.
McKenzie Walters and
Savannah Gaither both doubled.
Josie Lemmons and
Kaitlyn Leister had a stolen base.
Emma Davis got the win, throwing 4.2 innings.
Hallie Foley picked up the save, throwing 1.1 scoreless innings.
"Great two wins today," IU Southeast interim head coach
Erin Templeman said. "Bats were rolling. Really great leadership from our two seniors on Senior Day. Pitchers threw solid. Proud of our team for the fight we have shown all season to clinch second place in RSC. Now we start preparing for the postseason."
IU Southeast finishes the regular season 26-14 and 22-10 overall, good for a second-place finish in the RSC. The Grenadiers will travel to South Charleston, West Virginia for the RSC Tournament, which begins on Thursday.
