CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – The 18
th ranked IU Southeast baseball team fell to Shawnee State in the RSC Tournament on Friday.
Hazel Martinez connected on a two-run home run in the first to take a 2-0 lead.
Shawnee State hit a three-run home run in the first to take a 3-2 lead, and a solo home run by Shawnee State in the fourth gave the Bears a 4-2 lead.
Two more runs in the fourth gave Shawnee State a 6-2 lead.
Coulter Hamilton connected on a solo home run in the seventh to cut the lead to 6-3, but Shawnee State scored a run in the eighth to take a 7-3 lead, which would be the final score.
Ethan Burdette and
Preston Shelton each had three hits. Burdette doubled, and
Hazel Martinez and
Coulter Hamilton homered.
Eli Laurent took the loss, allowing six runs in 3.2 innings.
Aiden Darlage threw 3.1 scoreless innings in relief.
Brendan Whalen allowed one run in two innings of relief.
IU Southeast was supposed to play Midway in an elimination game on Friday night, but it has been postponed to 11:00 AM on Saturday.
