IU Southeast Takes Down Campbellsville for Fourth Straight Win

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The IU Southeast volleyball team defeated Campbellsville in four sets on Thursday to extend their winning streak to four.
 
The first set saw Campbellsville lead 17-13, but IU Southeast answered with four straight points to tie the set at 17-17. IU Southeast took a 23-20 edge, but a 5-1 run put Campbellsville ahead 25-24. IU Southeast took a 26-25 lead, but the Tigers flipped the lead back in their favor at 27-26. A 3-0 run by the Grenadiers closed the set, giving IU Southeast a 29-27 win.
 
Set two was controlled by the Grenadiers until Campbellsville used a 5-0 run to take a 19-18 lead. Not to be outdone, IU Southeast answered with a 6-0 run to jump in front 24-19 and would take the second set 25-21.
 
Campbellsville controlled the third set early, but a 4-0 run by IU Southeast put the Grenadiers ahead 17-15. A 7-0 run by the Tigers put Campbellsville ahead 22-17, and they would go on to win the third set 25-20.
 
The fourth set was dominated early by Campbellsville as the Tigers led by as many as six points. With Campbellsville ahead 24-21 and looking to send it to a fifth set, IU Southeast stunned the Tigers with a 5-0 run to take the fourth set 26-24 and the match 3-1.
 
Ella Brooks led IU Southeast with 15 kills and 5.0 blocks. Nicole Stratford added 14 kills and two aces. The trio of Haley Jaster, Allison Daves, and Addyson Schneider each had 4.0 blocks. Carly Mason added a team-high 31 assists and two aces. Ella Davidson recorded 22 digs to lead the team.
 
"Last night is hard to put into words," IU Southeast head coach Taylor Wilson-Evanczyk said. "Proud of how far our team has come in just a few short months and excited for the future of Grenadier volleyball."
 
IU Southeast moves to 6-1 on the year. The Grenadiers begin conference play on Saturday at IU Columbus.
