NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team continued their winning ways, sweeping Oakland City en route to their sixth straight win.
IU Southeast led 18-12 in the first set, but Oakland City cut the lead to two at 18-16. Leading 21-20, the Grenadiers closed on a 4-1 run to take the first set 25-21.
Oakland City led 17-13 in set two, but a 6-1 IU Southeast run gave the Grenadiers a 19-18 lead. With the two teams tied at 25-25, back-to-back points by the Grenadiers gave IU Southeast a 27-25 set two win.
Oakland City led by five on several occasions in the third set, including at 21-16. IU Southeast chipped away, cutting the Mighty Oak lead to one at 23-22. After a point made it 24-22, IU Southeast scored four straight points to take the third set 26-24 and the match 3-0.
Ella Brooks led IU Southeast with 15 kills.
Haley Jaster had a monster performance at the net, recording 11 kills and 6.0 blocks.
Carly Mason had an all-around performance with 29 assists, eight digs, three aces, and two blocks.
"Excited to get our first home match under our belts," IU Southeast head coach Taylor Wilson-Evanczyk said. "We came out slow but fought until the end. Very proud of how we finished!"
IU Southeast now sits at 8-1 overall and 2-0 in RSC play. The Grenadiers host Brescia on Friday.
