NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team swept Brescia on Friday to extend their winning streak to seven.
Brescia led by as many as five in the first set, but IU Southeast came storming back. The Bearcats led 23-21, but four straight points gave the Grenadiers a 25-23 first set win.
IU Southeast jumped out to an 8-1 lead in set two. Brescia cut the lead to one at 13-12, but a massive Grenadier run put IU Southeast back ahead by six. The Grenadiers would take set two 25-19.
IU Southeast scored the first ten points of the third set and cruised to a 25-11 third set victory, clinching the sweep.
Ella Brooks led IU Southeast with 14 kills.
Nicole Stratford had a team-high five aces and tied with
Ella Davidson for the team lead with 12 digs.
Carly Mason had a team-high 31 assists.
"Another home win for us tonight is exciting," IU Southeast head coach Taylor Wilson-Evanczyk said. "We've talked all year about protecting our home court and I think we did that tonight – with an exclamation point. Excited to be in front of our fans again tomorrow to showcase more of what we have been working on! Going to sleep proud to be the coach of this group!"
IU Southeast moves to 9-1 overall and 3-0 in RSC play. The Grenadiers play host to Georgetown on Saturday.
