NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team extended its winning streak to three games with a 81-72 win over IU Kokomo on Tuesday.
 
Jesse Ledgerwood became the Grenadier women's basketball program's career leader in three-point field goals made in the win, surpassing Lindsay Morgan's 194.
 
Morgan Roberts had 21 points off the bench to lead IU Southeast. Jesse Ledgerwood had 16 points, Linzie Wernert had 15 points and 14 rebounds while Grace Stapleton added 15 points and seven rebounds. Ella Brown had 11 points and six rebounds in the win.
 
"This was a complete team effort on both ends of the court and I thought we executed well, head coach Abby Downard said. "I am proud of them and excited to build and continue staying true to who we are one game at a time."
 
A slow start offensively for both teams saw IU Kokomo lead for the entire opening quarter. IU Southeast did not score until almost four minutes into the game. An Ella Brown three cut the lead to 16-15 at the end of the quarter.
 
Jacie Rollison hit a three to push the Cougars in front 26-25 in the second quarter but a three-point play by Ledgerwood gave IU Southeast the lead by one with 3:54 left in the half.
 
After a Lexi Diorio three-pointer extended the Cougar lead to 33-28. Morgan Roberts scored on a layup and then IU Southeast got a stop defensively. A layup by Stapleton followed by a Ledgerwood steal and score at the buzzer put IU Southeast in front 34-33 at halftime.
 
In the third quarter IU Southeast shut the Cougars down defensively, allowing just 13 points in the period. The Grenadiers forced five steals in the quarter.
 
With the score tied at 43, IU Southeast scored 11 of the next 14 points to get some breathing room.
 
Morgan Roberts hit a key three-pointer followed by a stop defensively and basket by Ledgerwood. After a turnover, Wernert scored to cap off the run. The Grenadiers led 54-46 heading to the fourth.
 
Morgan Roberts opened the quarter by hitting a three to put IU Southeast up by double-figures. She hit another three later in the period to extend the lead to 62-49.
 
But the Cougars went on a 8-0 run to get back in the contest.
 
After an IU Southeast timeout, Roberts was fouled and hit two free-throws followed by Ledgerwood's record-setting three-pointer to extend the lead to 67-56.
 
The Cougars would not get closer than nine points for the remainder of the game.
 
IU Southeast travels to Midway Saturday at 1 p.m.
