MIDWAY, Ky. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell 82-67 to Midway on Saturday.
Jesse Ledgerwood had 20 points,
Grace Stapleton had 18 points and seven assists and
Morgan Roberts had 11 points in the loss.
The Grenadiers shot well in the first quarter (7-of-11) but only connected on one three-pointer. Midway was effective at the free-throw line, hitting 7-of-8, and capitalized on turnovers to get extra possessions.
The Eagles led 27-18 at the end of the first quarter.
The Midway defense limited the Grenadiers to just four made field goals in the second quarter as they held IU Southeast to just 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting.
A 13-2 run late in the second quarter put the game out of reach. Midway led 46-29 at halftime.
The Grenadiers could not get shots to the fall in the third quarter before the offense got going in the fourth by hitting four three-pointers but the deficit was too much.
Midway dominated IU Southeast in the paint 48-26 and in points off turnovers 37-13 which proved to be the difference.
IU Southeast travels to St. Mary of the Woods on Tuesday.
