NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast women's basketball team opened 2026 with a 78-55 win over Oakland City on Saturday.
IU Southeast opened the game on a 7-0 run and led 15-4 five minutes in. The Grenadiers led 19-11 after the first quarter.
Oakland City cut the lead to seven at 21-14 to open the second quarter, but IU Southeast used an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 29-16. The Grenadiers led 43-23 at the half.
The Grenadiers led 61-40 at the end of three quarters and would go on to win 78-55.
IU Southeast was led by
Grace Stapleton, who had 19 points, eight assists, six rebounds, and four steals.
Jesse Ledgerwood added 17 points, and
Ella Brown had an all-around performance with 16 points, four rebounds, four blocks, three assists and three steals.
"Great team win today!" IU Southeast head coach Abby Downard said. "Everyone contributed in one way or another. Proud of this group! Back to work tomorrow!"
IU Southeast moves to 6-8 on the year and 2-0 in RSC play. The Grenadiers return to action on Tuesday in a home contest against SMWC.
