RICHMOND, Ind. – The IU Southeast men's basketball team outscored IU East 42-26 in the second half, leading to a 91-65 win on Saturday.
Nathaniel Hoffman had 28 points on 11-of-14 shooting,
Jaden Johnson had 24 points and
Ethan Haddaway had 15 points and 10 rebounds while
Trent Hinkle added 11 assists.
A three-pointer by Dewayne Robinson put IU East in front 24-21 halfway through the first half.
IU Southeast scored 12 of the next 15 points to jump back in front.
Nathaniel Hoffman scored 11 of the 15 points during that stretch.
The Red Wolves came back and cut the lead to five but
Ethan Haddaway scored on a second-chance basket.
Then
Cole Thomas hit a three followed by a pair of three-pointers by
Jaden Johnson to give IU Southeast a 49-39 lead at halftime.
In the second half the Grenadiers held IU East to 26 percent shooting from the field and the Grenadiers shot 50 percent to pull away.
IU Southeast opened the half on a 20-8 run to put the game away.
Jaden Johnson hit a three to extend the lead and Hoffman followed with another three to blow the game open at 69-48 with 12 minutes to play.
Cole Thomas capped off the win with a three to extend the lead to 81-58 with 4:18 left.
IU Southeast dominated in the paint, outscoring the Red Wolves 44-22.
The Grenadiers travel to Brescia Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET.
