ROSEMONT, Illinois – The IU Southeast softball team earned three wins to conclude play at the NAIA Leadoff Classic this weekend.
IU Southeast 12, Calumet College of St. Joseph 6
A six-run second inning put the game out of reach early for IU Southeast on Saturday night.
Raycee Stallings had a two-run single and
Emily Wolf drove in a run with a single to center.
In the third, IU Southeast scored three more runs, two on a double to left by
Josie Lemmons who drove in
Kaitlyn Chitwood and
Alaina Winzeler.
Sofia Guy tripled in the sixth to drive in Lemmons and extend the lead to 11-4.
Kaitlyn Chitwood finished the game 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.
Josie Lemmons had two hits and drove in three and Winzeler and Guy each had two hits with Guy and Stallings each driving in a pair.
Hallie Foley worked four innings and allowed four runs on six hits. She struck out five and walked three.
IU Southeast 15, Mount Mary 3 (Five Innings)
On Sunday, IU Southeast scored in every inning with
Kaitlyn Leister and
Sofia Guy driving in runs in the first inning.
In the second, a double steal by Chitwood and
Chloee Shewmaker allowed Chitwood to steal home.
McKenzie Walters doubled to drive in Shewmaker.
A five-run third inning put the game away.
Chloee Shewmaker drew a bases-loaded walk, Lemmons drove in two with a single and Stallings hit a sacrifice fly. Then Winzeler doubled to drive in Guy.
Kaitlyn Chitwood was 3-for-3 with three runs scored.
Josie Lemmons and
Alaina Winzeler each had two hits and scored twice. Lemmons drove in three.
McKenzie Walters had two hits and two RBI.
Emma Davis worked three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on five hits while striking out nine.
Liv Morris worked in a inning and a third of perfect relief.
IU Southeast 9, Judson 1 (Five Innings)
The Grenadiers opened the scoring in the top of the first with RBI singles by Guy and Wolf, who drove in Stallings and Walters, respectively.
The Grenadiers took a 4-1 lead in the second when
McKenzie Walters doubled to right-center, driving in Lemmons and Chitwood.
A five-run fifth inning put the game away. A double by Leister put runners at second and third and Wolf and Winzeler followed with RBI singles.
Ava Allen drew a bases-loaded walk.
A RBI single by Lemmons and a walk by Walters made it 9-1.
Starter
Hallie Foley earned her second win of the day by allowing one run on five hits in four innings. She walked two and struck three.
Josie Lemmons,
Kaitlyn Leister and
Emily Wolf all had two this and
McKenzie Walters drove in three in the win.
