Box Score RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell 89-68 to Rio Grande in the semifinals of the River States Conference Women's Basketball Tournament on Saturday.
Four Grenadiers scored in double-figures, led by
Grace Stapleton with 16 points.
Jesse Ledgerwood had 15 points in her final collegiate game.
Morgan Roberts had 15 points and
Ella Brown had 10 points.
A
Grace Stapleton three-pointer put IU Southeast in front 20-15 with 2:30 to play in the first quarter after the lead had swung back-and-forth.
A jumper by Ledgerwood made it 22-17 and the Grenadiers led 22-20 after the first period.
Rio Grande responded with a 14-2 run to start the second quarter. A three-pointer by Roberts and a layup by Ledgerwood cut the lead to 42-33 at halftime.
The IU Southeast offense went cold in the second quarter as they shot 31 percent from the field and were 1-of-6 from three-point range.
Back-to-back threes by Ledgerwood cut the lead to 44-39 early in the third quarter.
After a missed layup at the other end, Ledgerwood scored to make it a 48-45 lead with six minutes left in the quarter.
The RedStorm extended their lead back to eight but IU Southeast chipped away with a pair of three-pointers by Roberts and trailed 57-53 at the end of the third.
Rio Grande opened the fourth by outscoring IU Southeast 15-2 in the first 4:30 minutes of the period.
The Grenadiers were outscored 22-6 in the paint in the fourth quarter and 32-15 overall in the final frame.
