OWENSBORO, Ky. - The IU Southeast baseball team was blown out 21-1 in its series opener against the Brescia Bearcats Friday afternoon. Friday's loss to the Bearcats is IU Southeast's worst loss since a 26-6 loss to Point Park back in 2014.
Brescia scored early and often in this one, plating three runs in the first and four in the second. The Bearcats then added a pair in the third, then followed it up with six more in the fifth.
The Grenadiers' lone run of the game came off the bat of Caden Lockwood, who hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. Lockwood finished the game with two hits, the most of any Grenadiers' player.
The Bearcats scored five more in the fifth, then scored their 21st run of the contest in the bottom of the sixth and won 21-1.
IU Southeast is 27-12 overall and 15-4 in conference following Friday's blowout loss to Brescia. The Grenadiers will take the field again Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. doubleheader against the Bearcats.
