NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The Indiana University Southeast baseball team clinched the KIAC Regular Season Title to earn the No. 1-seed in this year's KIAC Tournament. This is the third consecutive regular-season conference title for IU Southeast.
The KIAC Tournament will take place this weekend in Berea, Ky. between seeds 2-6. The winner of the tournament series will travel to New Albany, Ind. to take on the Grenadiers for the KIAC Championship best of three series. The series will take place on May 7-8.
One game will be played on Friday, May 7 with two games if necessary on Saturday, May 8. Game times will be announced early next week.
The Grenadiers currently sport a 35-14 overall record and an 18-2 KIAC conference record.
The conference championship series winner will represent the KIAC in the 2010 Avista-NAIA World Series Opening Round from May 18-21 at a site to be determined.
Before the championship series begins, IU Southeast will attempt to break the school record for most wins in a season. The Grenadiers' next opportunity to set that mark is today at Martin Methodist.
Earlier this season, the Grenadiers broke the longest winning streak in program history by winning 15 consecutive games from March 4-20.
