Vince Tornincasa Named IU Southeast Baseball Head Coach

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Vince Tornincasa has been named the head coach of IU Southeast baseball, Athletic Director Tod Bannister announced.

"We would like to welcome Vince Tornincasa as our new head baseball coach," Bannister said. "Vince did a tremendous job for the Grenadiers this past season in his role as assistant coach. He connected exceedingly well with the players and is a tireless recruiter, and his approach to the overall execution of the program really stood out during the interview process. We are extremely proud of our program and the culture that blossomed under Ben Reel that Brett Neffendorf continued, which has helped the Grenadiers become a national baseball brand. Vince understands the importance of the program to the campus and community and the responsibility he has been given."

Tornincasa served as the lead assistant coach at IU Southeast in 2025. He also served as the primary recruiting coordinator and hitting coach.

"I would like to express my gratitude to Athletic Director Tod Bannister and Chancellor Dr. Ford," Tornincasa said. "I'm very thankful for the support from the returning baseball roster and multiple coaching staffs at IUS. I am excited to continue the legacy in the baseball program that former head coach Ben Reel has created. With the support of the IU Southeast alumni, athletic program, and baseball coaching staff, I will continue to add to a winning tradition. I'm committed to giving our players, alumni, and community a team they can be proud of. I am humbled and excited to begin the next chapter of Grenadier baseball as the new head coach."

In Tornincasa's first season at IU Southeast, the Grenadiers hit .324 with an OPS of .915. IU Southeast scored 429 runs and had 161 extra-base hits in 50 games. The Grenadiers also earned a berth to the NAIA Opening Round and were a nationally ranked team all season, peaking at No. 10 in the country.

Tornincasa worked closely with the infielders. In his first year at IU Southeast, Tornincasa saw three Grenadier infielders named to the RSC All-Conference Teams, including the RSC Player of the Year in Logan Beard. Three Grenadier infielders were named to the RSC Gold Glove Team as well.

In 2023, Tornincasa was named to the University of Southern Indiana Baseball coaching staff and was tasked with being the recruiting coordinator as well as working with the Screaming Eagle hitters. As a team, USI improved 11 hitting statistics from the previous year with two players being named to the All-OVC Second Team.

Tornincasa came to USI after managing the Rockford Rivets in 2022 and 2023. The 2023 Rivets finished with the third-best record in the league, completing the season with 45-27 mark. The Rivet's 45 wins in 2023 was a regular season record.

As the 2022 hitting coach and interim manager, Tornincasa helped the Rivets to a 37-35 record, including a 20-16 record and second-place finish in the Great Lakes East Division.

In addition to managing the Rivets, Tornincasa was the hitting coach at the University of Illinois Springfield in 2023. The Prairie Stars finished second in the GLVC, batting .313 as a team with 70 home runs and a .414 on-base percentage. Illinois Springfield also had one player earn honorable mention All-America and All-Region honors and two players earn All-GLVC awards.

Prior to managing the Rivets and assisting with Illinois Springfield, he was an assistant coach at Andrean High School. He was the infield coordinator and helped the program win the 2022 Indiana State Championship.

Tornincasa also assisted with Carroll Merchants, a M.I.N.K. League team, and was an assistant coach from 2015 to 2020 for Purdue University Northwest.
