NEW ALBANY, Ind. - The IU Southeast men's tennis team lost its first match of the season 9-0 to Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
The youthful Grenadiers had two freshmen (Jalen Brown and Trent Wallace) play their first collegiate matches against stiff competition. IU Southeast head coach Yancey Walters said he was happy with how the Grenadiers competed.
"This was a tough match against great competition," Walters said. "Indiana Wesleyan will be a top-20 team this year, and they should win their conference. We did great since we lost our top two players from last season."
IU Southeast heads to the DePauw Invitational on Sept. 8-9.
